Woody brown area on cattleya

2 Attachment(s)
All,

Would you be so kind as to look at these photos of my NoID cattleya?

Notice the woody brown area on the leaf? What is this?

Also, the other leaves have what I assume are edemas. And then one leaf has this weird blemish on it. It is pusing out lots of new, healthy roots.

Any thoughts? Am I watering it too much? It gets watered every morning because it is bone dry by dusk.

I don't know what those things are...sorry. The black spots don't look like edema...maybe some fungal infection due to humidity.
I wouldn't worry about anything you've posted, unless the spots start to grow fast.

About the watering...we need to know what kind of container the plant is growing in.
And are the new roots growing towards outside of the pot or going inside the medium?

Are you sure the medium is dry by dusk? Or is it dry just on the top of the medium?

Thanks!

That blemish has been there for a while, and it doesn't seem to spread. Maybe it's gotten darker? I didn't take pictures of the edemas.

It is growing in a wooden slatted basket, med bark orchid mix.

I am positive that it is dry by dusk.

The roots are growing into medium and out onto basket through slats.

Cattleyas must be watered as they get dry.
If you're sure it's dry by dusk, then you should water them.

When the roots grow out of the pots, this might mean they are running away from it, i.e., there's something wrong with it. In your case, growing in and later they come out is normal.

If the spot is not spreading, then it's ok.

Do not water them at dusk.

What I see in that brown tissue is a common malady called "nothing to worry about".
