Whats up with this orchid?
 

I bought this orchid the other day and I noticed that one bloom has 3 petals and 3 lips and the other bloom has 2 petals and 2 lips. I have no idea if that normal orchid lingo lol. Anyways is that normal? And anyone have any info about if its hybrid or mutation or are aliens gonna jump out of it?!:rofl: Thank you!

Its peloric. Its actually becoming quite a craze now and if it passes on the genes and is a named orchid they can command some decent money.

LOL, weird but pretty cool too! Normally I wouldn't go to the trouble but for that one I'd considr trying to find out the supplier and seeing if I could get any info on whether it is named or not.

Im real curious to see what the next bloom is going to look like. I guess ill know sometime near the end of the week.:D


Looks like it came from Rocket Farms in salines CA. Ill try contacting them later once i take better pictures.

Here is an bit better photo. Mine has sorta orange/pink lips that are a bit more rippled ( i guess)

i sure like your orchid....

On my last phal bloom I had one flower only that had a double bottom petal. Assumed it was a mutation or something. Looked lovely tho!

The third bloom opened up on friday and its also has 3 petals and 3 lips.:)
