"Sport Peppers"
Where have these salty little puppies been all my life? I broke into a bottle today and these guys on Triskets are to die for (my opinion). Nice tang at the end and wonderful full flavor.

Hey Ross, What are sport pepper's? and are they hot (I love Hot)?
|
Yes hot. Have no clue on what they are other than they look like little "banana peppers". We found them in a local grocery store and the bottle says "Sport Peppers". My wife got these 'cause she was making a recipe that called for them and we had no clue. Now she found these I can't leave them alone  They aren't as hot as the teeny Korean peppers, but are about like raw Habeneros - only they are pickled. I eat habeneros raw like some folks eat green peppers. I grow my own for a plentious supply.

I knew you were a hot guy Ross ;) ..

Hey Ross, I've got all the Habaneros you can eat....and a bunch of other peppers. I've got to pick them every other day, or they're opening up, spreadin seeds everywhere. Those are one of my other hobbies, and I can't give them away, fast enough! Here's some pics of a couple days' harvest
Attachment 4727:Attachment 4726 Attachment 4728. If I don't pickle them, or dehydrate them, I'm throwing them out half the time. I'm running out of room in my fridge, due to all of the Mason jars. If you would like some, just pay the shipping, and I'll send you some. |
What a beautiful assortment of color :)
and HEAT  |
Wow, those are some great looking peppers!
In Chicago-land Sport Peppers are served on authentic Italian Beef sandwiches. You have to NOT ask for them but I love 'em. |
:coverlaugh: |
Made my own habanero salsa using fresh cilantro, habaneros, and garlic. My son and I ate the whole batch a couple weeks ago.
|
Ross, you must have a stomach made out of iron.
|
It's not the stomach that hurts after binges like this

The "Chicago Dog" hotdog uses these, and it is my fav. hotdog. There are recipes on the 'net, but they are basically made as follows. Good beef hotdog poppy seed hotdog bun (I can't find these near my house in Atlanta. :_( ) dill pickle spear tomatoe slices celery salt spicy brown mustard two sports peppers I'm not sure about the presence of onions. This is one happy dog. :bananaslide: |
Wow! Those are some beautiful peppers. BTW. vroom, vroom (from a Yami FZ6-er).
|
Thank you, all. I can't take all the credit, most of that is "Miracle Gro" tomato food, and the warm Fla. sun.
|
Ross, I wanted to let you know that I boughta jar of the Sport Peppers based on your suggestion and YUM-O! I need to buy a box of triskets because my crackers are too wimpy but it's still so good. I can't stop eating them! I've a vegetarian so stuff like that is right up my alley. :D
