Bulbophylum Jersey - My first rebloom
My one and only Bulbo, Bulbophylum Jersey has rebloomed for the first time :cheer:
The dorsal sepal curles back a long way, and the petals will curl back further and further as the flower ages, then uncurl again shortly before the flower fades. Last time they got to the point of crossing over behind the flower before they uncurled. The lip is delicately balanced and rocks really well at the slightest movement of the flower. http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6007/...ca27e038_m.jpg http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6142/...7788c1cd_m.jpg http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6017/...c29b009d_m.jpg http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6134/...c9d4d40e_m.jpg |
That is just too cool of a plant! Love it! :verycool:
|
So they finally opened and beauties they are... congrats!
|
beautiful, Rosie! good growing~!

Congrats! Very pretty flower, and a unusual one. Wasn't that the neatest feeling when that flower finally opened! You gotta get more. Love those bulbos!!!!!
|
Nice one Rosie :)

Thanks everyone. It's always such a good feeling to get the first home grown bloom on a plant.
I do think I'll have to get more bulbos now. This one seems happy with my care, so I think it's time to branch out and try others :) |
excellent job!
congrats! such delicate lines....*drool* |

I'm disapointed that this faded earlier in the week, only a couple of days after opening. I'm sure it lasted nearer a week, or just over a week last time :(
The second spike also blasted at the same time and I am wondering if I let it get a bit over-dry because the p-bulb beside the flower stem and one other looks more wrinkled than I remember. I still have a third spike growing and looking healthy. Fingers crossed it opens :crossfing |
Hey Rosie, that is one awesome bulbo!!! Congrats on this your first rebloom. I know how cool that feels.
|
I envy you...my bulbos are not yet in bloom...hopefully soon
|
WOW! Just love that one! Good job at reblooming it Rosie! My macraei has a spike, so I am going to get my first Bulbo bloom quite soon! I guess it is cheating, as I got it like that. My dentiferum is supposed to be blooming sized, so if it blooms this winter, I will be quite happy. But reblooming and bring the seedlings into bloom will be the best!

Thanks :)
While the first flower faded, and the second spike blasted, there is now a nice fat bud on the third spike  |
It opened a second flower last weekend and even though the flower has already faded I wanted to share the new pics I took on Tuesday. I'm not sure why it's fading so fast each time. The flower when I bought it lasted longer. But never mind, I've enjoyed it while it was still open.
I had to tuck one of the leaves out of the way behind the stake on this one as it decided to open the flower against one of the biggest leaves  http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6195/...0971163f_m.jpg http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6079/...8b2c4857_m.jpg |
WOW! Very nice colors...I am always happy to see reblooms...it means you have done right by it...I am still waiting for my bulbos to bloom this season
