Volcano Blue 10-10-2010 by Isurus79, on Flickr Please excuse the poor quality of the pics, this plant sits kind of high on my rock wall and it was raining, so I just snapped a few pics and ran away! lol This is a great hybrid and is probably the closest thing I have seen to an orchid blooming true blue. Unfortunately, this year the buds came out kind of bunched together like you see. Usually they are better spaced. |
Very pretty. Are they scented, and is that a fruiting epiphyllum/dragon fruit in the background?

Just beautiful! The flowers look like they are pretty good size. How large are they?

Blc volcano blue hasn't bloomed
Hope you can help - I picked up a 'bag baby' blc volcano blue several years ago in Hawaii. It has gotten much bigger and is healthy but the blossom shoots seem to rot within the sheath. thoughts?
Thanks for any help you can give me. |

Orchids and Epiphyllums! My two Favorite things!!!!!! how big is your Pitaya/Dragonfruit? Gorgeous Flowers i love them!!!!!!!!!

I actually kinda like how the flowers look when they're bunched together like that. And I love that lilac-blue color. :)

Thanks for the comments! The dragonfruit that was growing there was growing wild and probably covered an around of 80ft x 10ft. That stuff grows everywhere in Hawaii and will often engulf whole walls and trees if allowed to! I live in Texas now though, so no more dragonfruit. lol |

I just came across this thread and I wanted to let you know that more purple or blue these flowers are rather stunning. I also like them 'bunched up' a bit as they are. It magnifies the effect. AL
