Orquideas Tropicales
I am in the process of unpacking an order from Orquideas Tropicales. I shared the order with some friends and I have just sorted them into the 4 lots. Pretty tired now.
I have opened a few of my own plants and :bowing they are so healthy and nice. I hope that the rest are as good as the ones I opened so far. I am posting the first pics below and will post more tomorrow as I unwrap them. So far I am more than happy. Gaspar Silvera has been fantastic every step of the way too. A great communicator and a real nice guy. Good prices too. I knows its a bit of a plug for him, but hey, I am a very pleased customer right now. http://www.orquideastropicales.com/ Brett http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...00410_2127.jpg http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...410_212702.jpg http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...10510_0009.jpg http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...10510_0010.jpg http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...510_001102.jpg http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...10510_0012.jpg |
Oh those are my favorites deliveries! :cloud9:
I can see you smiling from here ;) |
WOW.
|
I can't get on their website.
|
Whoa....
If the root systems on these plants look good enough, I'm sold... Is there a minimum order? |
Hi again
Well here they are. I will take pics of the roots when I am potting up. As you can see, some of these plants are little monsters. Very good size. I am really pleased. Postage on this 16kg order was about $200 to Bangkok, so a smaller order to closer countries will be much less I guess. Hope you dont have horrendous taxes like Thailand or officials with hands out under the table every to deal with  Brett |
I am just THRILLED to see that they are going to be at Redlands! I'll be spending some time at their stand for sure :cloud9:
Thanks so much for sharing this with us...if a few friends get together and place a large order, the CITES and shipping charges won't be felt too harshly by just one person  |
We did an order between 4 people. Gaspar had no problems with that and was very accommodating to out needs. :)
We got 100 plants and out of that only 1 plant was missed out. All the plants were exactly what was ordered though. I have had orders like this elsewhere, but with many stuff ups, more plants missing and not good like this. The plants that came in this order were in the best condition I have seen an order in for a long time. When plants arrived, the newspaper wrap was slightly damp. I would not like that if it was in 40c heat for a week. But as he sends via airshipping, I think it is ok. It is only a few days to us and Airlines are careful as it is all insured and they put perishables like these in air cond. I am going to order again for sure. Brett |
Out of curiosity, does anyone know what the importing fees are like here in the states?

Hi All
Here are pics of the roots on some of the plants. All in all, they are quite good and I am quite happy with this order. I am looking forward to getting more plants here soon Brett http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...20510_1733.jpg http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...20510_1740.jpg http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...20510_1744.jpg http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...20510_1751.jpg http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...510_175401.jpg http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...20510_1814.jpg |
Here they are all potted up. Now for some TLC and watch them go. Hopefully blooms will not be too far away with some of these plants.

A quick note
Gaspar is replacing the orchid that was left out in the next order I make with him. A really nice guy. I intend to keep dealing with him as he gives the service so many other sellers lack these days Brett |
Hi
This is the first bloom of the Oersterdella psuedoschummaniana that I got from Orquideas Tropicales in Panama :bowing A second plant is in spike. A Sobralia callosa is also in bud Brett http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...5/IMG_2233.jpg http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...5/IMG_2238.jpg http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...5/IMG_2229.jpg http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...5/IMG_2226.jpg http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...5/IMG_2224.jpg http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...5/IMG_2244.jpg |
Oh My!!! How cute is that???????
I want one! The girls and I are going to Phelps' Farm Orchids on Thursday, I'll have to see if Paul has this one! :cloud9: Thanks for sharing  |
I love the color combo on that one! Can't wait to see the others you have in spike!

Pics of the plant and the 2nd plant coming into bloom today. 75cm tall

I cant wait to see this as a well grown plant, considering this is a plant with only a few new roots. Not to mention it is in a wardian case that is too low for it to grow upright.
It will get a better home when I move Brett |
This is my Sobralia callosa that bloomed today. I got 4 from Gaspar and this is the first to bloom, and only months after shipping bare root. I am amazed
It lasts but a day, still I hope when it is more mature, it will put on prolonged shows over many weeks with successive blooms. I cant get the colour right in the picture. It is a deeper pink than this. I have selfed it. Fingers crossed Brett http://www.rv-orchidworks.com/orchid...ache/17788.png http://www.rv-orchidworks.com/orchid...ache/17789.png The plant http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...5/IMG_2354.jpg And nearly the end of the day. http://www.rv-orchidworks.com/orchid...ache/17790.png |
New list is out
Gaspar just emailed me his new list..
Lots of new stuff.. I see another order coming up soon  Brett |
