Here is a famous local orchid show in a small town of the south Taiwan.
This place is always full of sunshine and blue sky, but today is cloudy, the temperature is less hot as I thought.
It is my frist time to visit this show. So I am as curious as you all. What can I see in this local show?
This show is hosted by a temple. The most interesting thing is the champions are chosen by gods. Gods love orchids too!:bowing:rofl:You may ask me how could the gods choose champions? Well, they choose it through casting the lots.
When I reach this temple, it is beyond my expectation.
Oh, my gods! What a small temple it is!
After all, this is a small temple in a small town.

You are a super, fantastic tour guide, Edward. Thank you so much for taking these pics. I love the background stories you posted, explaining the naming of some of these. How interesting.

And not to mention those Dendrobiums...I got weak just looking at them. That's an anosmum in the first group of Dends, pic 5, correct? And what about the one with the white flowers (in pic 3, same post)....is that a D. dearei?

Thank you again for the wonderful tour.
..........................
OMG, I just went back and looked at these again and just saw the D. spectable. :faint:

It was the same plant in the 1st group of 3 to 5, I was fascinated with it, so I took few highlights for it. I did't know the exact name about it, but I was sure this was not the D. dearidd.

The Cattelya cultivation has been a long history in south Taiwan . Due to the factor of weather it is the main stream for the southern orchid growers. Lack of sunshine, most of the flowers are smaller and few even never bloom in Taipei.:((
Most of these flowers are as big as a child's face.

King of the white phal

When the king arriving, everyone should bow and scrape.

As the tag written, it was collected in orchid island in 1978. So it could be over 30 years old.

The native P. formosana's flower are smaller, but can grow more spikes, and easy to have basal keikis.

When the time goes by, it will be a big cluster. After that, many hunderds of flowers are not a dream.
