Hello all,
I haven't seen anyone post a monthly status report in a while.
In Bloom:
Brassavola Little Stars
Rehfieldara Jerry 'Pacific Empire'
Maxillaria variabilis 'Grace'
Phal. Tai Lin Redangel
Tolumia Genting Peach
Paph noid
Miltonia 'voluptuous' (my new favorite)
In Bud:
C. IWAN Apple Blossom
Miltonia Rene Komoda 'Pacific Clouds'
Phrag. Nitidissimum (bought in 2007 and I've yet to see it bloom)
C. aurantiaca (also my first bloom since I bought it in 2007)
I have other phals spiking and a few others showing potential, but these are the ones either in bloom or soon to bloom.

kiki-do 03-05-2009 07:57 PM

Sorry for the poor quality of the photos, but my camera and I are having a love/hate relationship lately. It doesn't want to cooperate. I think it's just too cold and/or getting cabin fever. Like me! :)

Sandy4453 03-05-2009 08:23 PM

It all looks so pretty and cozy at your house, kiki. These blooms are outstanding and love the background scenery. By the way...what is that white stuff?:snowball

Great growing!

Shirley 03-05-2009 09:25 PM

Things are looking great at your place, Kiki! Nice growing. I also have a Phrag. nitidissimum but I just got it last year so I guess I have a while to wait. That's a gorgeous maudiae!

:)

Amanda L 03-06-2009 07:54 PM

Yay!! Here's my March status report:

In Bloom:
Phal. Mini Mark 'Holm' – 6 blooms on 2 spikes, with a latent bud recently deciding to join in the fun
Phal. equestris – 10 blooms on 1 spike with at least 3 more buds to go
Phal. lobbii – recently acquired this in-bud; 7 blooms on 2 spikes, one more bud to go
Den. Pixie Charm – 5 blooms open with at least that many more buds to come

In Spike/Bud:
Phal. cornu-cervi – recent acquisition
Bulbo. guttulatum – 1 spike with 9 buds; this is spiking from a pseudobulb which already put out a spike last September
Tolumnia Phyllis Envy 'Ruby Queen' – single spike growing and growing and growing...buds may be just starting to form

Other items of note:
Ascofinetia Cherry Blossom 'Pink Bouquet' – I think is beginning to put out two spikes
Den. laevifolium x self – may have buds growing from the tops of a couple old, leafless pseudobulbs, but not quite sure yet
Leptotes bicolor – some kind of sheathy, nubbiny thing is growing from a couple of the newest growths...from the bottom of the leave's groove

That last one is truly amazing! It's very different, isn't it. Very interesting. I love all of them. My slippers do not thrive for me. It's always hit or miss with them. And the masde is stunning! I'm starting to have an interest with these guys, now that I got one to rebloom for me. :)

MuscleGirl'sHobby 03-16-2009 08:25 PM

Wow, great job you guys! I have just a few things rewarding me.

In Bloom
Phal sogo grape 'fireball'
Den atroviolaceum (and sending up more spikes)
Paph Noid
(the last two were purchased in bloom)

In Spike/Bud
Phal NOID
Colm Wildcat 'Bobcat'
Blc Rustic Spots (in sheath, we'll see if it blooms!)

And the other good stuff
-Cut Phal NOID keiki and potted it up.
-Cut 3 keikis of Den NOID and potted them up.
-I have about 25 various seedlings that have leaped into grow mode big time... some putting up 2-3 new growths!
-Den hercoglossum is putting out so much new growth I can't even count it all.
-Multiple other dens with new canes popping up.

Yes indeed, it feels like spring!

Hmmm. I think I got it all!

dravenxavier 03-16-2009 08:29 PM

Pleurothallis stricta
Pleurothallis grobyi

I agree! Especially the Pleuros! Kiki, you have the perfect climate for Masdies. You could probably get some of those wicked colored cool growers to bloom for you. Go for it! When I first got mine I made the mistake of not growing them bright enough. They are now in Catt light and blooming like crazy.

Shannon my Masd. Copper Angel just opened this morning. It's about the same color as your Copperwing, but with a more closed shape. I just love it! :cloud9:

kiki-do 03-18-2009 04:10 PM

Terri, my enabler, more masdies were my thoughts exactly!

quiltergal 03-18-2009 09:08 PM

 I'm happy to be of assistance!
