Dedrobium Nobile - clay too cold?

I have a Noid Dend Nobile type that bloomed this winter in my house under less than ideal conditions and I like it. I have it in a 5" and it looks like there are several plants in the pot and it needs something a little bigger for new growth. I don't want to divide it yet.

I have a 6.5" clay which looks perfect and will keep it from falling over or will have to go to an 8" plastic unless I order something or run all over town which is difficult for me and I might not find what I need anyway.

I used to grow them in clay all the time but the windows in the senior complex where I live now get COLD in the winter and I know when I water wet clay will stay chilly, I try to keep them dry and dormant but they still need some moisture. The windows are doublepaned and no frost is visible but its cold. I know they like a winter chill but its really cold.

Any opinions?

As long as they're above freezing cold is fine. You don't need to soak them in the winter like you do in the summer.
