It looks like right below in the other pbulb. I could be wrong but the angle of the photo sure looks like its swelling too.

Wow, I hope to have your luck with mine. I got it last year in Nov. It put on 2 new (smaller) growths. I don't remember seeing more roots, but I don't know. I recently repotted and it isn't looking great, but it has 2 more new growths that are about 1" long and it has several new roots, so fingers crossed.

At least on this one, when they start to grow they're fast, really fast.

I repotted my Pot. Love Passion 'Orange Bird' about a month ago, from all lava rock, to the same blend I'm using on my other 6 cattleyas. There was 3 new roots, each of which was about 3" long. They seem to have handled the, extremely gentle, repot quite well. None have died off. The new growth is every bit of 6" long now, and has that nice shade of purple, peppered throughout it. There are also 5 additional root tips emerging which are each 1/4 to 1/2" long. Pbulbs are as wrinkled as they were, leaves are getting a bit leathery as well. I'm hoping that changes with these new roots starting to take up moisture.

Here's how this spring's new growth is now...

And it already has a sheath comming out.

This is what I call a "root manufacturing machine".
The four new roots in the photo started to grow by the end of spring. The smaller begun a week ago.
So, they grow really fast.

A really great little free (for individual use) photo editor... Irfanview IrfanView - Official Homepage - one of the most popular viewers worldwide has a really easy-to-use color-adjusting function. Then it's easy to tweak colors so that they match what you see.
