Default Brassia datacosa, when to repot and what care?

Hello orchid boarders
Finally discovered the name of one of my orchids i repotted last month - Brassia datacosa. It was definitely in the wrong medium as it hasnt shot new roots yet.
What is the best medium to pot in? And how to water these and light needs?
Please help - thank you!

Hi Allisonvdr, Welcome to the Orchid Board! We look forward to hearing more about your orchids as they grow.

A lot of orchids don't grow much during the winter, and it is just turning spring where you live. I don't repot in the winter unless I get a new plant that I think has old, rotting medium around the roots. So your plant might not grow until it gets warmer.

Brassia hybrids (like this one) and species are in the Oncidium alliance. I don't grow this plant, but if you look through the

Oncidium/Odontoglossum Alliance

forum, you can read about Brassias. Brassia species are ancestors of your Beallara. Beallara is the name given to hybrid plants with ancestors in genera Brassia, Cochlioda, Miltonia and Odontoglossum.

The advice silken gave you for your Beallara also applies to this Brassia hybrid.

Good luck, and keep us informed about your plants! It would be nice for you to post a brief introduction in the

Introductions - Break the Ice !

forum.
