I was just wondering how big does everyone grow each type of orchids. For bigger orchids with sympodial growth, does having too many back bulbs ever not benificial to flowering?

Not counting Cyms, my biggest pot size is 10". Onc Sharry Baby (already busting out of the 10" pot I put it in less than a year ago), Milt flavescens in a 10" basket since last summer -hopefully will hold it another year. Both grow like weeds. Sharry Baby is a big plant anyway. Milt flavescens has a long rhizome.

The problem with the Sharry Baby's size, is that due to it's size, it gets left outside all year, and where I have it, gets little light in winter - probably causing me to miss out on some spikes in spring. It blooms well in fall, after receiving better light in summer.

The same is true for me. I have a couple of orchids in 10" clay pots and some others in 10" wood baskets. Some of those have outgrown their containers but I'm not going any bigger.

Me too. I have a Prosthechea cochleata in a 10" clay pot. My pot sizes range from 1 inch to 10 in. I have a couple of plastic baskets in use now, a recent addition.

I have a Dend specieosum in a 30" square pot filled with hydroton and shredded tree fern, I hope I won't have to repot for several years. I estimate the weight of plant and pot at well over 100 lbs. The plant still has several years before it covers all of pot.

I also have a couple of large D. speciosums in around the same size as orchid byte, plus a large cym in the same pot size. I have a trough type planter that is about 1.8 metres long and about 6 inches wide which is mass planted with Odontocidiums, they are filling it nicely.

My biggest pot size now is 7 inches for a large Phrag. pearcei and a 6.5 inch pot for a Paph. sanderianum. The Paph. sanderianum needs a bigger pot fairly soon. For me having only 1 shelving unit of lights and limited space, these are really big pot sizes.

I guess about 40cm or so (~16") for a large Oncidium sphacelatum. it needs a bigger pot still...
