Default Potting Mix for Paphs

In a search I did I could not find posts with regard to the use of peach or apricot or macadamia husks used as growing medium for Paphs.

Occasionally we experience difficulties in finding good quality bark and are forced to search for alternatives. For the past two years I have been using coconut husk chips, but this is also not readily available. In a recent import of plants from Taiwan I have noticed in the mix something which looks like small pieces of cork bark or even small pieces of wood.

The question I have now have is whether one could try and grow Paphs in chopped up husks of the fruits mentioned above. Whatever is used it should at least last for a period of two years.

I would appreciate some comments from people with experience in using any of these.
Thanks

I don't have any experience with these but I know that pits and seeds of fruits are toxic to parrots, I don't know about orchids though.

what about wine corks ? you should find plenty up the road ( or on the side of the road in wino patch )

Actually you raise an interesting question. Cracked peach husks is something I haven't thought of and may work - if you can get enough of them. Maybe someone here in peach country ( like Georgia ) has used them....

Faan - Leon Davies at Caro-Lin orchids in PE usually has CHC in blocks if you can't find any in Cape Town.
