Default Repotted All the Paphs & Phrags Today!

Repotted all of my Paphs and Phrags today in the special mixture formula (slightly modified for my conditions) suggested by Earl at ORCHIDbabies.

Total of about 25 orchids. I'm tired.

Here's my mix:

Phrags
9 quarts Orchiata medium size
3 quarts perlite
1 quart sand
3 quarts charcoal
2 quarts hydroton/arkolite mixed
Rock wool
Styrofoam peanuts
1/2 cup bone meal
1/2 cup blood meal

The wetter ones went into s/h pots with styrofoam/arkolite at the bottom of the reservoir. The others went into regular bottom hole pots with styrofoam or arkolite at the bottom.

Paphs
Same mixture except no rock wool and the micranthum went into a double pot (cool pot outside/ small pot for the chid). Keeps the humidity up and the heat down in the summer.

After potting, thorough water to soak in the bone & blood meal. Hoping to see some super growth from the boost.

I'll take photos tomorrow.

That's quite ambitious doing 25 at the same time. I'm thinking you must have one of those concrete mixers to mix up that much media. I was using sand in my mixes for a while, but found it keeps running out when I water and I was afraid it would stop up my drains if I kept it up.

ha ha Melissa, I hear you not an easy task for sure. I always fell like I need a nap after repotting. But in the end its all worth the trouble, the rewards are on the way!

I've been wanting to try the blood & bone meal. But with 2 dogs it sorta throws things off for me, its just way to attactive for them. They would be tossed salade overnite
