Default Measuring Pot Sizes

OK, here is a really dumb question.

When you measure pot sizes, do you measure the diameter on the bottom of the pot or on the rim? You will get a different result. So is a 5" pot 5" on the bottom or top. This is just something that has been bugging me for a while and I'm sure there's someone here who will be happy to clear it up.

Thanks,

John

Great question. Pots are measured by the diameter of the top.

Pots are measured by the diameter of the top, from inside wall to inside wall
