Default time to repot ???

Hope everyone has had a good holiday. I have several orchids that we got in Hawaii several years ago. The picture is some of the divided ones. They are about 4 years old now. I was wondering if I should repot, if so into a larger pot. I also have some Zoo Med fir bark that is usually used of lizards etc. I was planning to use this with some moss and peril light. Or should I use something else. I have 3 or 4 of these pots. If anyone is in the Kingston Ontario area and wants one let me know. Take care and happy growing

They look like Dendrobium kingianum, or one of its hybrids. The pot size is appropriate for those divisions. How long since you potted them? I would let them completely fill those pots before dividing.

My opinion is they must have been quite tiny if they were kingianum, which tends to be a rambunctious grower (for me at least).
It also does well in a small pot. They certainly don't need a bigger pot, but they may need new media if they're staying wet too long.

If the medium is breaking down I would repot next Spring as root growth just begins. If the medium isn't breaking down, you may not have been watering as much as it prefers. This Den., as dbarron wrote, ordinarily grows very vigorously and might have filled those pots by now. How are you watering it in summer? Does it spend time outside then?

You may not be watering this one enough during its growing season. It should grow like a weed in summer.

I am in the London, Ontario area. My dens summer outside from June till end of september into October, and grow like weeds. I water heavily, let them dry out for 3-4 days till potting mix is dry. Fertilize every other watering. Mine are busting out of their pots by the end of summer. I keep mine in light shade outside between 11am till 4 pm in summer months. In full sun in south window in winter. And they bloom like crazy. In winter I keep them in the garage that doesn’t go lower then 10 Celsius through the night, in sunny south window through the day.
