Default Masdevalia erinacea

Masdevalia erinacea - one of my very favorite Masdevallia species, and miniature species. Coming from South America, warm to cold growing mini miniature orchid, grows very well in glass orb with some live moss, keeping moist, low light, weak fertilizing, spikes nonstop through out the year! The blooms is just awesome!

I've seen this one, it is cute. You must not have any problem in the glass orbs with air circulation. I was kind of worried about that.

I've found that mine doesn't want a ton of air movement, just enough that there is decent gas exchange around it, but not really in need of a breeze at all. What it wants more, is moisture and humidity around its roots. I water mine almost daily. I will skip a day once or twice a week, if it's still too wet and I grow it in my terrarium with my other micro minis. So far, so good.

They are kind of delicate. When you move them into new conditions, they seem to want to drop their leaves. I had one that lost all of its leaves entirely due to shipping shock. The vendor replaced it and the new one lost a few leaves too, but not as badly. After seeing the first one just drop its leaves, I decided to be very careful about acclimating it to the slightly warmer conditions in my terrarium. Now, it's doing okay. No blooms yet, but it's not dead so I'll take it.

Tommy's is the reason I decided to get one. I think they're worth it to try if you're interested. Great little plant.
