Restrepia antennifera - Orchid Board

I picked this Restrepia antennifera up on whim and super excited to see how it does, and hopefully be able to propagate it once it is better established. If anyone has experience with Restrepia antennifera...feel free to share any tips or thoughts....cheers!!!

I'm a big fan of Restrepia, have 4 of them right now (R. Brachypus, trichoglossa, contorta, purpurea).

In a few years, maybe we can work out a trade if you are interested.

Very nice! It looks big and healthy. Sorry I'm still learning on how to keep my R. brachypus. If it helps, but I'm sure you already know, bright, cool, and humid. That's my recipe.

R. brachypus is the first Restrepia I had. Mine is in a 4-inch net pot, set inside a small terracotta pot that just fits the net pot. Medium about 50% each small bark and chopped Sphagnum. Thin top layer of fine bark keeps the algae down. Light level about the same as for Phalaenopsis.

When I was first establishing mine about 4 or 5 years ago, I kept inside a plastic soda bottle "terrarium". It grew well. Now, it is well established ant the terrarium is not required. I do try keeping 60% humidity when I can, aim for never completely dry, but not perpetually soaked either.

Big, well-established Restrepia bloom very frequently, but most in spring and Autumn. Mine go outdoors in warm weather.

Salixx and I recently traded some Restrepia, and the R. trichoglossa I received was on a cork mount with a generous Sphagnum pad. It has grown really well and bloomed once in January, then again late February.

Same here. No rush. You want your plant to have many growths before dividing up. Keep me in mind for a trade in a couple years though.

I've tossed that idea around a lot but feel a better connection lately to just the orchids and other terrarium plants....maybe when I have everything up and growing the way I want
