New growth or spike? Male
Default New growth or spike?

This is my first attempt at growing Masdevallia and I just happened to notice this two little nubbins on my plant! Like I said, I'm new to these guys so I have no idea what's going on, what do y'all think these are?

New growth. All of my Masdies that have spiked have done so from the area around the base of a mature leaf.

With Masdevallia, a new growth is almost as good as a spike. New growth means it likes you!

Sounds good to me! Not to mention leaves stick around a lot longer than a flower spike!
