Default Platystele stenostachya

Hi all,

This is Platystele stenostachya. I post about this one often, but I really like it. It's a minnie, but it forms a largish colony. I got this one from Andy's Orchids probably in 2007. The oldest picture I have of it is from 2008, but it had already grown a bit by then, so I know I had it much longer. The flowers are barely bigger than a pinhead, and they give me so much trouble getting a pic. Also the plant is inside a terrarium but the terrarium is on a table top that experience constant vibration from the building or something. Anyway, I'm amazed there isn't more blur in the pic.

By the way, between it and the glass is a Vireya that took a liking to growing there.

You've managed a great picture of this! I love my stenostachya, it truly is one of my favorite miniatures just because it is so easy to grow and bloom. I've only had mine a couple of years and it isn't nearly as large as yours. The tiny tiny blooms always surprise people.

I have mine in my Exo Terra now and it seems very happy with the new home. It's in bloom now. Thanks for sharing such awesome pictures.

So this one was declining just a few months ago, and I realized it was because the mount was rotting. When I went to inspect the orchid, the mount fell apart on me. So I laid what was left of the orchid horizontally on a piece of drift wood in the same terrarium. Since then tons of new leaves have emerged and it started to bloom really well again. Over time this plant has suffered reductions in size, but a quick fix here and there have allowed it to rebound quickly and vigorously.
