Pleurothallis strumosa - Orchid Board

Pleurothallis strumosa on the "nursing" log - I cut a larger piece of hygrolon thick liana and created my nursing log last year summer, mounted on it tiny divisions and unknown orchid pieces that arrived sometimes with the import mixed together. Pleurothallis strumosa had only 3 tiny leaves when mounted last year August, it's over 10 leaves and spiking now, other pics show few NOID pieces that arrived mostly only one or two leaves, have no idea what they are but they are growing well so will see when blooming!

I love the idea of this nursing log.
I also wish I'd get unknown surprise orchids in my orders lol.

I love the spots. I'm not usually a spots person but this is cool.

Ooo, I love it! It seems to be very similar to Pleurothallis alata, which is a favorite of mine. Who did you get this little guy from?

Ordphien, in some cases, with exported plants, I guess when they are dividing them from the large mother plants, there were some small pieces of other orchids. They were not suppose to be added, they just somehow fell to my imports, and since they are miniature orchids, only one or two leaves, no one even realize it. Many people probably throw them away thinking it's just a fallen leaf, but as you can see, even from one leaf division, there can be nice grown miniature orchid within some 6 months ;-) Now just a waiting game what they will be when/if they bloom :-)

John I got this as a gift, one of my first miniatures two years ago, the tag says also Pleurothallis alata, and I thought for two years it is one till today when I posted pics in other group and expert corrected me, that it is not alata but strumosa ;-)

What a great idea. This could be done with very small cuttings from your own plants so you are not ruining the overall look and shape of your main plant. I like this, not sure I'm ready to do any cuttings yet but this would be a fun project. Nice bloom!

Patty it definitely can, and I did add some cuttings of mine, Platystele beatricis on the picture was one leaf division I did divide by mistake when cleaning my plant, it has some 5 leaves and did bloom twice already on this small log :-)
