Default Definately not Masdevallia coccinea

I bought this as Masdevallia coccinea but when it's flowered it's most definitely not that.

The flowers are the same size as my Masdevallia barleana when coccinea should be larger, and the flower shape is wrong for coccinea as well.

It is similar but not quite the same as my barleana, don't know if it could be just a different looking barleana but if so it's not as pretty as my other one.

If anyone has any thoughts on what it might be let me know, otherwise here are some pics to enjoy of my NoID Masdevallia

For comparison, here are some pictures of my barleana.

Madevallia barleana won't stop flowering

I could try, they are one who has been helpful with something else that lost it's tag between the show I bought it at and home. I had this several years before it flowered though so I hadn't really thought of that.

Thanks, that's sort of my feeling too. I prefer my other barlaeana, but while the flower is not exactly the same it's close enough that sometimes I've glanced at photos and not been sure which of the two they were until I looked closely.

Also I did buy my barlaeana from the same nursery so I know that's one they grow, and this one must have got mis-tagged.

The Masdevallia in this thread is the true Masdevallia barleana.

The other Masdevallia you thought was Masd barleana is not the real deal. The one you provided a link to an older thread for might either be Masdevallia amabilis or Masdevallia x splendida, (which would be a natural hybrid of Masd amabilis x Masd vietchiana).
