How very interesting! I have a Porroglossum muscosum 'Amarillo' that have stopped blooming for me for a year now....I hope that the sulking is over and bloom for me....you are right my plant gives out a long spike and the end opens a bloom that I can see close open as you touch its lip; the bloom withers but the hairy spike still goes green for a long time so I dont bother cutting it.

I had a muscosum years ago and the hairy spikes are almost as good as the flowers.
