WOW! This she is growing out of control in there. Very nice and healthy looking plant. I'm sure the sporadic frog fertilizer helps it grow in there

Yep looks like a Pleurothalis (sp?) to me rather than a Masdavellia... Masd.'s usually have a single flower at the end of each flower spike that resemble little mouths.

It is possibly a masdevallia as some do have multi-flowering infloresences and the tube shape is not unknown. As to what it is the cursory look over my references has not helped.

Well I got a book on orchids, and in it they give a little discription of some Pleurothalli,

"P. grobyi, has green, white or yellow-orange flowers, marked with purple or red in summer.
P. lanceana, has many yellow flowers, tinged with red
P.schiedii, is a tiny and fascinating species only 2.5-5cm (1-2in) tall. The flowers are light brown and the edges of the sepals are fringed with pendant blobs of white wax.
P. sonderiana, is another tiny plant with lots of long lasting, small orange flowers."

The book also mentions that "orchids of this genus are mostly small plants with slender, single-leafed stems and small flowers. Few are showy but they have many enthusiasts. Pot in a fine bark mix or sphagnum; they like high humidity and cool to intermediate temperatures and very suitable for an orchid case."

Hope this helps. Let us know if you think its one of the ones the book describes.

Hey Darren,

A few questions for you... what kind of lighting are you using? What is the average temp of your viv? Also, are the zaparo breeding? I have been looking to get into epips for a while. Thanks for sharing as that pic is awesome!

Best,

Justin

and then some!
That's impressive! A big encouragement to all those would-be viv'ers out there

I'm not sure if it is M. pachyura, I have M. pachyura and it looks completely different, than again I have a book with M. pachyura in it that looks to different to mine and yours..
