It took about 1 yr to establish itself to the point where no more leaves dropped and no more new shoots were "damping off". It's not like they were dropping leaves like crazy or anything, but there was some dropping of a few leaves and some rotting of new shoots for some "unexplainable" reason.

This plant is now growing very fairly fast and now has 3 spikes.

I want to see how large this sucker can get before I tell myself, it's time to divide them.

Or maybe the plant will decide that for me. Who knows?.

It's bloomed a couple of times alerady, and is about to put out another flower.
So far, no keikis. I haven't seen any sign of this plant wanting to throw out keikis yet.

Very kool. The damping off episodes must have been a headache and a half for you.

Mine got up to seven blooms, then dropped all its leaves. Now it has one leaf and a few shoots. Lots of excitement around this plant!

Those few episodes jarred me a bit. It was confusing and disappointing at the same time. The roots were in perfect condition too. I didn't exactly know what to do, so I just let them dry out to dampness instead of keeping them wet all the time.

Yea, thats good to know, there is a limit on how wet you can keep these.

There most definitely is. Keeping them too wet is counterproductive.

This problem is difficult to diagnose because the roots are designed to handle a lot of moisture, so they're in perfect condition. Then there's the fact that it had been hanging around for a month or so. They went between growing new leaves and having a few successfully make it to maturity, but others would fall off prematurely. Some of the new shoots got fairly large too, then just damped off and died.
