Default Restrepia brachypus

I read somewhere where you could take a leaf cutting of Restrepia's and produce new plants from it. I decided to try it on my brachypus. I put it in sphagnum moss and it's taken about 3 1/2 months, but I have new growth developing! Check it out. I also tried this with my Restrepia cuprea, but it's not showing anything yet. It's been a very long time, but I hate to give up hope just yet.
I'm not sure how long to leave this guy in moss like that. Has anyone else done this before? When should I repot it? Thanks for looking!

I've got this little Restrepia in my collection. . .it produces tons of keikis! I just wait until one of the keikis has long enough roots and then put it in a little pot of sphagnum.

I haven't tried rooting a leaf cutting but I bet it would root in water too.

That's really cool, Kiki! I'd heard about this, but don't (yet) have any Restrepias myself. Very neat! Thanks for sharing, and keep us updated!

hmmmm.....very interesting

I never heard of that. I already have 2 small keikis of this plant so when they get larger I might have to try it for giggles

Thats wonderful! I really need to try one of these some time. As far as the other goes, I see the alternative to keeping the leaf in sphag is death. So uhmm, following that logic, I would say keep it in the sphag until either the sphag rots, the leaf rots, or the leaf has tons of roots and a new growth. Which ever comes first.

Not sure, I've only read this about Restrepia's as far as leaf cuttings. I know you can cut spent Dendrobium canes and have them root when put into moist moss. But that's all I've read about.
