I have a Lepanthes specimen that would normally sent its inflorescence from the abaxial side of the leaf, however its new growth it’s producing the inflorescence from the adaxial side of the leaf. Sort of odd and yet fascinating. Have anyone ever seen this happening in Lepanthes species or any other orchid species? Any possible explanation? Thanks in advance.

I've seen it a few times. Don't have an explanation for it.

I've seen it even in Lepanthopsis and Platystele too.

Some growths retain the usual orientation that the inflorescence grows out of, while other growths on the same plant have inflorescences grow out in the opposite orientation.

Some species are more prone to this than others.

adaxial = upper side of leaf

abaxial = lower side of leaf

I've even seen when the inflorescence grows off to one of either side a bit too.
