Here is a close up of one of my Masdevallia Charisma blooms. It went crazy this year with over a dozen blooms and I had to re-pot.

I LOVE it!

This is one that I keep eyeing for my next Masdevallia purchase.

How big is the whole plant? And what did you do to make it so happy. Cause I want to do whatever you do.

I have two pots. One is in a 4" plastic pot (rectangular). That one is packed in fine fir with very small styrofoam bits, with sphagnum on top of that. The other is in a 3.5" rectangular plastic pot. It is potted strictly in sphagnum. There didn't seem to be any difference in growth or blooming in either - both did great! I have them in an East window and I keep them damp, but not soggy. I do not mist. All my orchids are grown in my home in the windows or under regular home lighting. I live in SW WA on the beach so our temps. and humidity are great for intermediate to cool growers. I originally bought the plants from a San Francisco grower so they didn't have to deal with much of a climate change. Hope that helps and good luck!

I have two of these .. and will be showing them this photo as a 'blooming' inspiration

I got mine from Larry's orchids on eBay .. though the plants were small .. they are healthy

I forgot to answer Gwen's question about size of plant. The one in the 4" pot is about one foot by one foot, and the smaller one is one foot by half foot. They grow fast, so have fun!

O'Kay, that might be a problem. . .I was imagining something along the lines of. . .well, quite a bit smaller!

Now thinking. . .I am really going to need a larger growing area.

Wonder if I can take over somebody else's filing cabinet space at work? Now imagining one fine day, when "they" come in and their filing cabinet is just gone and in its place is a pretty growing rack with a couple of big Masdevallias.
