Lepanthes calodictyon misting issue- leaves collect water
Default Lepanthes calodictyon misting issue- leaves collect water

I'm trying a L. calodictyon in my orchid terrarium, and I'm having a hard time figuring out where to put it. I have an automatic misting system in the terrarium, and the leaves of this little jewel seem perfectly designed to collect water. It came in the mail with several buds already, and I can't imagine having those buds nearly submerged is good for the plant. Are these more tolerant of wet leaves and blooms than I think, or do I need to take extra care to at least attempt only the roots getting moistened? I'm not sure how much humidity I can keep around it if I put it in spots where the spray won't likely hit the roots.

I’m keeping mine pretty wet in my paludarium and I don’t sweat standing water on the cupped leaves. It’s very happy. Will get pics later.

OK so not as much water on the leaves as I remembered, but pretty wet roots. This is about 1/2 hour after misting, and the mister goes off around 6x/day to keep humidity up in my very dry climate:

The genus Pleurothallis tends to hate standing water on its leaves, but Lepanthes is a little more forgiving. I’d recommend having a fan going 24/7 if you don’t already.
