Scaphosepalum breve

I am pleased as punch that one of my Scaphosepalums finally bloomed. I have no problem getting any of them to spike, they just usually blast at the last minute and the entire spike dies back. Not steady and/or high enough humidity, I am assuming.

So nice. Had some a few yrs ago but thought I'd do better with other genera. Also called "rams head'' orchid. Good 4 U. Tiny but powerfully impressive!

Thanks it’s crazy how charming these little monster flowers are. Even my husband, who is more of a Cattleya and Vanda guy, loves it. I grow a few others Scaphs that haven’t bloomed for me yet. They will be going in the terrarium by the end of this month so I’m hoping for some better results

Love it!

If you want me to try it out in high humidity I would accept that responsibility

I’m keeping my hopes up that I have turned a corner and this spike sticks around! Two years, or even half that long, would be awesome

Lol, thanks! I have been having a very hard time keeping the humidity high lately. Even our outdoor humidity has been low (definitely not used to that!) which has been a challenge since I usually overwinter anything Pleuro related outside. That’s been my driving factor for setting up a terrarium. Plus, my Scaphs, and a few others, are all starting to out grow their summer home in the rotisserie chicken container I keep on a windowsill
