Default Camera Shopping

have you shopped around for a new camera lately?

Been looking into a new camera and there are so many to choose from in all price ranges. My brain hurts!!

I have a small Nikon L120 and was looking at the D7200 to replace it with. I looked at some pictures taken with Nikon and then looked at some pics taken with a Canon 7dMKII for some comparison

The Canon to my eyes was far superior in quality of the photos taken under the same conditions with similar lenses. The cameras cost is about the same. Nikon lets you use all the lenses in the line where Canon cameras are specific EF or EF-S and are not interchangeble. Canons line of EF L lenses are some of the best in the world and used by many pros. Look for the red stripe on the canon lens L series.

So looking at the 7D prices I started shopping out the 5DMKIII. Lot of money for a lot of camera in the 5D's. I really liked the full frame sensor of the 5D. Its not the camera for me bec I am concerned that the 5D is overkill for taking shots of flowers bugs and frogs etc etc for my own personal enjoyment and on occasion others. So shopped some more and found the Canon 6D.

Learned its a cost effective 5D as they use many of the same features parts and programming. A Full Frame sensor and uses the EF lenses only not the EF-S line that was made for the Canon digital single-lens reflex cameras with APS-C sized image. Cropped Frame images. The Full frame sensor is whats sold me on the 6D with many of the same features as the 5D. Missing some cheesecake as we can call it the 6D is a trimmed down amateurs version of the 5D's...

Going to order one up thru Best Buy with the 24-105mm f/4L IS Lens -
20.2-megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor
ISO 100–25600 (expandable to 102400)
Up to 4.5 fps
11-point autofocus with centered cross-type AF point
Built-in Wi-Fi connectivity
the worst thing I read about the 6D is the GPS when you are using it along with the photos eats your battery life up pretty fast.

Going to be very happy and inspired again to be taking photos of the flowers for your enjoyment. Flowers are on the way too

Have fun shopping for you next camera!!!!

I have been looking for a camera too. It is a real headache trying to figure out which is best for the price. Let us know how you like your new one after you get it.

I wish I was shopping for a new camera. My head hurts just reading about it. I am not at all experienced at cameras. But I sure would like to take better pictures.

I bought a Nikon camera last year. I really like it. It isn't the top of the line but it is really easy to take great pictures. I still need to invest in a lens for close-up pictures, though, but that will have to come later. It was a really tough choice between the Canon and the Nikon.
I found the cheapest prices on Amazon when I was looking at cameras.

I got a Cannon T3i with a macro lens for the little guys. You can operate it manual as well as in auto mode. It was recommend by Allan Koch of Gold Country Orchids.

It came with a small "regular" lens as well. I'm thrilled with the picture quality. My next purchase will be a telephoto lens.

There are some excellent books that explain photography and exposure very well, or you could sign up for a photography class! I have read a number of books and taken several classes and enjoyed them all.

I had a wonderful old Pentax and a fair bit of equipment for it until we were broken into and it was stolen. I loved it and it was my first SLR. Film back then of course. I am on my 3rd digital, not counting the little underwater point and shoots we have had for snorkelling etc. I have had two Nikon DSLR's and been happy with both. My latest one is a full frame and I love it. But the better the quality, the larger and heavier the cameras and lenses are
