File Under Coolest - Magnetic Macro Lens for Camera Phone Male
Default File Under Coolest - Magnetic Macro Lens for Camera Phone

Hey guys - I'm not a photo person. Never was, not any good at it and don't have much interest (luckily, my wife follows the kids around with a camera 24/7).

For me, camera phones are a blessing, because (a) no one had any expectations that the photos will be dazzling, and (2) I can upload the pics quickly and wirelessly to my computer or send them to friends in an email or text. Quick, dirty and at 5 mega pixels, not garbage.

One of the limitations that I've always found frustrating is that I could never get close enough to my orchids to take those great macro photos.... UNTIL NOW!

I was reading a tech blog that I love and stumbled on a magnetic macro lens that claimed to be "universal" - meaning it could fit any camera phone. The photos on the blog were stunning and the price was ridiculously cheap (I bought a macro / wide angle and fish eye for less than $30).

They arrived last night and I'm shocked to say that they really do deliver as advertised. Check out the photos below. They are pictures both with and without the macro lens. In each case, I got as close as I reasonably could and still keep the pic in focus. Check out those macro shots from a camera phone! I took them in less then 2 minutes, no set up, no messing around with settings or lighting. And these are at the camera's lowest resolution - at the highest resolution they are really something.

I took a picture of the lenses too so you can see what they look like. Here's a bit of low end consumer tech that far outstrips expectation.

Thought you guys might enjoy.
