Hi,
I did get the Canon EOS 550D and the EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro lens. Don't have the extension tubes yet, but maybe the extra equipment will have to wait until I learned to use what I just bought.

Congrats on the new camera, like Connie said, you're going to love it! And as I told her a while ago I'll tell you too. Now that you have a Canon you're going to come up with some questions. And while this forum section here on OB is very nice and has a lot of great folks, there is one more spot that you should check out.

Canon Digital Photography Forums - Powered by vBulletin

There are so many great folks there and almost everything you're going to need to ask is already there. It's a great resource. And make sure you check out the macro forum. You'll be amazed!

Have fun and play around a lot with your camera and it's settings. Then post some of your images here for us to see!

Thank you for the tip on the forum.

Already have some. The forum won't let me post the full-size pictures. I am impressed by depth of field and detail. The attached pictures were taken with a tripod using the Av setting to get extra depth of field. Sometimes exposure was 2+ secs. Sometimes I used natural light (of which there was not much the day I experimented: a typical grey, dull and dark UK winter day), sometimes artificial. I also played with HDR as well.

One thing I really need is a remote control (-:

Nice shots. I personally like the diffuse light of a gray day. Isn't that macro amazing?
I'm getting to know mine in preparation for my upcoming trip to Costa Rica. Each step up is a little different from the last one.
And ChasWG is right- Canons DPOTN website is great. I don't look at it as often as I look at this board, but I am especially impressed with the bird forum.

Yes, the diffused light seems to bring out the colours at its best. The close-up of B. perrinni is actually just a section of the previous picture. I wanted to show the detail of the pictures as I wasn't able to upload the file sized picture.

@Connie: I still have to PM you re Costa Rica. Maybe we can meet up for a beer, food, chat.
