I Have A New Camera
I have never had much interest in photography so my only experience was a Kodak Instamatic or a disposable. Seeing all of these wonderful pictures on this site, I got the urge for a camera. I bought a Nikon D40. It took a while to learn all of the buttons etc. but I finally got it to working. I need a lot more education but here are a couple of my first pictures.
1. Lc Purple Cascade 'Sweet Beauty' (C. interglossa x Tokyo Magic)
2. Darwinara Charm 'Blue Star' (Neofinetia falcata x Vasco. Thom Yuen Hae)
3. Vanda sanderiana alba x Neofinetia falcata
4. Dendrobium Stephen Batchelor

I think these are really OK. If you want some detailed instruction, send me a PM. I know the camera and can help with the next level. If the images are exactly what you had hoped for then ignore my comment.

I don't do most Dendros or large, "floofy orchids". For me it's minis (like Angraecoides), Masdies, Paphs, and others that crept in somewhere along the line. See my orchid list for complete collection (usually not current.)

Thanks Ross for your offer of help. I could use some for sure. After I have used the camera a bit more I will send you a private message.

Congratulations on your new camera. Now we need names for the pics you posted, especially the blue one.

Des, I wanted a camera for use on this forum and I had no idea what to get because I have never been a big advocate of pictures. I know that when you talk about your orchids on this site everyone wants to see what you are talking about. The camera that I purchased was one recommended by one of the members who I think, is a pro and so far has proved to be a good selection. Once I learn all of the intricate details on use, I will probably like it a lot.

Jerry I am not into all this new fangled stuff that is around today but I take my hat off to the guys who came up with the digital camera, they are the best thing invented since bubble-gum!

Pictures look good to me. Just depends much you want to involve yourself into your photos. It is a great hobby and a permanent record of you bloomers!
