A small history of my Angraecum
Default A small history of my Angraecum

I had a few issues with this plant which is probably why I have a few more pictures than usual so I thought I'd share my run with an Angraecum Lady Lisa over the period of this year.

Bought at the beginning of the year and left it to settle in.
Unfortunately the crown developed some sticky sap either in my care or before that which glued the top leaves together which started to rot.
By the time I noticed, it looked like the first 2 pictures
I treated the area to stop it spreading but expected it to be dead.

It developed a flower spike in the next 2 pictures.
Then it flowered and filled my whole house with its lovely fragrance for a month.

The flower did start to degrade to a brownish color seen in the next picture but I'm hoping that was just some thrips doing some damage.

But now on to the reason for this joyful post is that surprisingly today I looked at the plant and I could not believe that the plant has developed a new crown seen on the last picture after it had rotted away completely.

Very nice!

Angraecum magdalenae flowers are fragrant during the day and more so at night and can last nearly three months when the plant is happy and established. The mag, also starts more fans from the base after it reaches blooming size so there will be more blooms. I don't grow the other parent so I am not sure how long those flowers last, the growth habit, or anything of the fragrance.

Congratulations!

Nice bloom. Just out of an abundance of caution, is it possible you have a bit of scale going on? I can't tell for sure from pictures, but kind of looks like it.
