Default Help on Phal. Javanica culture *MINI*

I have a Phal. Javanica and it just sits there. It has two leaves, each about 3 inches in lenght and has nice green healthy roots but it's been like that for months. No new root growth. No new leaf growth. nothing. The vendor I purchased it from said it was a notoriously slow grower. But my Paph. PEOY is growing quicker than it . Just wondering if anyone else on the forum has any Phal. Javanica and and if their experiencing the same thing and what kind of luck their having with it.

Thanks.

Maybe its dormant now. Some Phals go dormant, not which ones though.

Marco...do you have yours in a flask? They are perfect for this type of enviroment. They need alot of water even if the humidity is high. My only concern would be if this plant is in dormacy? confused of proper growing times if there is such. Were there any temp changes, moved to an area it is not liking, how does the root system look? I hope someone here can help you, I am curious as to why or how or is this the norm, its on my wish list, I would love to add a flask or two to my collection. BTW the blooms are absolutely gorgeous...

Cheryl - Mine is in an s/h pot. I grow them with all my other plants so it gets the same treatment except light. I'm going to give it some more light and see what happens. I got mine from Jai at myphals

www.myphals.com

Jai's great he/she (dont know if persons a he or she) bought flasks of javanic from www.orchidco.com. He said that the flasks came in great. I don't know if they have anymore but their worth a try. Be warned on orchidco i've read and have had mixed results myself on their plants i dont know anything about flasks though. But Jai's growing the javanica I've asked for two to held on reserve.

I read in www.myphal.com that they were from "flasks" and my only thought on this is that its possibly going through a transition and/or a dormat stage. I would try the change of light and see what happens. I do not know much about flasks but my thinking and hopefully someone will correct me if I am wrong, that the reflection off a flask (glass) would make the enviroment brighter. Make the change, in a few weeks you should be able to tell if anything is going on and or it likes its new lighting.
