Phal. species question
I recently bought these two Phal. species and was wondering if anything besides sun burn is going on. I know there is enough good leaves left that the plant can make it but, I just want to make sure that sun burn is all that is the problem. I've never had a Phal. and I am a little heavy handed when it comes to watering so I've cut back on the watering end. I've also made sure they don't get any direct sun which, is why I think they are in this condition. The first three pictures are of Phal. lobbi and it's roots and the next three pictures are of Phal. parishii. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Hi Julie 
I keep my Phal lobbii about 8-10 inches outside the area where the Catts are kept. Kind of bright but not direct sun.

Thanks Dennis and Sussanne I thought it was just sunburn. By the way, since these guys are outside on open shelves how often should I water them. I kind of decided to wait until they are starting to get dry on top. Is this a good time ??

all of mine that are mounted get misted every day to the point that they are dripping. if it is really warm and dry out i may do them again lightly in the afternoon.

I stick my finger into the pots and if they are dry I give them a good soak for 20 mins then let them drain for half an hour and I never have any problem, Judi

Thanks Judi, my phals are all mounted but, my phaph is not and I've got to do that with that one. I have to keep telling myself to let them dry out a bit.

Julie, hate to be a wet blanket but I would not mount the Paph. not run across anyone that has good luck growing them that way .
They are more or less terrestrial (ground), not an epiphyte (on trees ect ) as in mounted . Gin

Gin I don't think Julie was planning on mounting the Paph. I think she meant she was having to stick her finger in the Paph's pot to see if it needed water.
