Yes, she's the bigger one. Llamas are roughly twice the size of an alpaca. She's a small one though. From her disposition and one weird foot, it appears her past life has been pretty hard-knock. We are very pleased to have her. Now commences letting her know we can be trusted and schmooze her up a bit.

Alpacas are all one breed/type. Just different colors. The littler ones are crias (baby alpacas).

My mother bought one once at a sale. That's what we called him Dolly Llama. Sad to say but the poor thing was all alone. He ran with the horses and when my sister had a pony for her kids they would play together. Once they turned him lose we never caught him again. Now my neighbors have one and that poor thing is also alone. I wish you had him.

They were hoping he would help guard the sheep but he seems to not like them. He just goes where ever he wants to.

How sad. Llamas, as are alpacas, herd animals. A llama makes an excellent guardian, but must have at least one camelid companion. They just need to get at least one more camelid and it would likely solve the problem.

And yes, Dolly appears to be a popular call name for a llama.
