Molted earlier this week. Unfortunately, twas too late at night for me to try and get photos during the entire process. Was only able to get some shots while it was in its molting hammock before ecdysis commensed.

And a post-molt shot the following afternoon:

Well? What were you expecting? Something related to the heavy metal band?

Just as a guesstimate ... about 4-4.5 inch leg span.

Admittedly that is a gorgeous blue but EEEEEEEEKEEEEEE! No, no, no, no, no, no...there can be no spiders in my house. At least not brought in on purpose. EEEEEK! And certainly not something that's 4+"!

My God, what would you feed something like that? Small children? Does it bite?

I tell ya...look to flora and fauna for great fashion! I have no problem with house spiders. Pick them up when I can and place outside. Am having a housefly problem at the moment...care to fedex some jumpers to me? On my bucket list is to hold a tarantula. The older I get,the more adventurous I wanna be. Thanks for the fotos!

I used to let the "hoppers" (I know it's wrong but I call them hoppers) live too...even though their obsessive nature to follow my every movement freaks me out. That is...UNTIL one fateful day. I had one living in the orchids on a top shelf...where I need a ladder to get to the plants...and then one day when I was fussing w/the orchids up there the damn thing jumped onto my hand and w/out thinking I smashed it. No lie...I nearly fell backwards off the ladder! Damn thing scared the crap out of me! I felt bad but I had warned it to steer clear and if it did then we could live peacefully together. If only it had listened...

I'm not afraid of too many things but I AM deathly afraid of spiders. The ones that move slow and the teeny tiny, pin-point sized ones don't bother me too badly but the rest...nope, can't stand 'em...freak me out beyond belief. Especially the wolf spiders AND the grass spiders! EEEEEK!
