Gin;
your babies are beautiful! And I love the names. I had a rainbow lorikeet named Keiki, that loved everyone. When my partner and I broke up, I was basically homeless and would not put her through this so I donated her to a local zoo and was later to find out she has become the central bird in their kindergarden visits. They say the kids ooh and ahh over her every visit. It still hurts my heart to think about her not being in my life (even though she has been with the zoo for 7 years!). She really was my baby and kissed me all the time.
I am so glad you have two loving conures. They can be real clowns.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane -
Steve

I would love to have these types of birds but with the noise they can every morning or anytime they want, it just is not an option for me. I would totally get kicked out of my building. lol

love those names by the way! very cute.

My Quaker is very quiet, most of the time. He starts squawking if I leave the room unless the door is closed because he knows he can't be heard. As long as I'm with him, he's ok. Unless I've been in the room for hours and ignore him. Then he starts ringing his bell like crazy and it drives me nuts so I give him some attention. When he is alone and thinks no one is around, he talks to himself nonstop. He doesn't talk near as much if he thinks somebody is around.

My Rainbow Lorie talked to herself all the time, even when she was sitting on my shoulder. She would talk directly into my ear - I always wondered what was going on in that beautiful little multi-colored head. I really miss her !

One of my favourite birds! I love those colours in orchids as well. I have a pacific blue parrotlet, but I used to have a blue fronted amazon. They are all wonderful little people!

They are super adorable do they talk?? I know they can be crazy smart. Here in Chicago where I live we have wild quaker parakeets if you can believe that, they have adapted to the weather and are breeding like crazy. I love it!

Default Quaker parakeets

karategirl:
Quakers are great little birds - I had two when I was much younger (I have owned a LOT of birds). As a pair they bonded with each other and would not let any human (me included) mess with them much. They seemed to know that biting right next to the fingernail, in the soft flesh, was extremely painful and they would go for you fingers every time! I hand fed these and their 'betrayal' was depressing. Many a time I stuck my hand in to feed them and pulled it out with a cute little bird exacting extremely painful bites to my cuticle.

I have that Chicago and New York each have wild breeding colonies of these. Unfortunately, in order to nest they hollow out wooden holes to raise their brood in. They have been VERY destructive to the older structures in NY and I think they still have a bounty on them. Cute little birds that can do horrific damage.
Just a sidenote.
Steve

Any creature that is introduced where it doesn't belong, really does a lot of damage. The same with plants.
Here on the Island we have a few rare animals such as Vancouver Island marmots, and there are constant problems with people introducing things like bullfrogs, European wall lizards, chipmunks and rabbits.
