Nothing like a mix breed, Gumbo looks like he has mostly Labrador and with that black spot on his tongue makes me think he also has some chow. Pets sure do enrich or lives.

I was going to mention the black tongue stripe and the Chow possibility but he looks so Lab.
He also looks much to big to be 'shrimp' Gumbo ..
