We have discovered that she is now using 1 of the litter trays (we have 3) ... what a relief.
Yesterday she came running to greet me and jumped up on my lap for fuss, that is a great step forward.
She has also started washing and grooming again, a very good sign.

Great to hear of her steps forward, kudos for adopting!

Be careful with labeling with a breed- it's just next to impossible for strays. Without a genetic test, the safe answer is "Domestic Long Hair" with a "Norwegian Forest likely" caveat or some such thing. Otherwise the Cat Fancy breeders get in a fuss. :X
Though...your likelihood of running into them is slim...but still.

She's very striking though. Seems like she's already brightening your home.

Oh I'm so glad to hear she's adapting to her new surroundings! Especially the litter box!! Good job! She must feel safe and loved.

Apparently her native good nature has surfaced again. I shudder to think of her being in a small cage for so long. Why was that the case? That is just plain cruel to an animal that so loves its independence as cats do.

Please keep us up to date with the latest news and pictures too.

@ Fotofashion,
The reason she was in the pen is becuase the Vet practice does not have runs only containment pens, she was taken out and played with, but not as often as a cat would like.

@ Izzy,
The Vet had said she was most likely Half N Forest becuase her original owner had one. They couldn't sell a cross breed so dumped it perhaps becuase it got too old to sell?
Also I have been a breeder of Burmese, Korats and Abbys so I know the problems there

Thank you to everyone else for your kind comments, Chiana is becoming quite demading of her fuss

I will post more pictures of her next week so you can see how she is getting on in her new home.

Very glad things are working out. Cats are one of the most loyal animals and once they are betrayed it is very difficult for them (and some take a long time to get over that also).

We live in the rurals and many a kitty has been dumped off. Till we can catch them (or they perish) they will return to the spot they were dumped for months waiting for their owner to come for them. They may roam for many many miles but always come back to the same spot. I use the term 'months' because the life expectancy of a cat in the rurals is very short. Cats can survive great falls but succumb to the slightest virus or disease easily acquired with stress. And they are prey for owls, foxes, and coyotes here. Rurals are a dangerous place for cats and kittens.

It is very good that she has someone who really cares for her now. Her loyalty will stay with you for as long as she lives (I've seen cats take on huge dogs when they think their loved ones are threatened - even if it is the family St Bernard!)
