And a female and male betta together in a small (3gal) tank is generally not a good idea. The female will get harassed far too much- which happens when you breed as well- put them in, they get fresh, do their thing, then get pissy. (with other details and exceptions, of course)
In a ten gal, maybe.
It would be more interesting to have a few females in the community tank- they establish really interesting social hierarchies.

Man...kinda sounds like how human relationships are when they go bad.

too true! Isn't it funny how similar they can be sometimes?

And "help"- I need to correct myself- I had two Malabar Puffers, I think they're a little smaller than your green-spotted. Dwarf (Malabar) Pufferfish - Carinotetraodon travancoricus Tiny little things- mine were just 1.5cm!
^ that site is a great simple reference for aquarium fish and plants.

They were comical little stinkers- didn't like my tiny tank though- typical budding aquarist getting sucked in by a private salesman's pitch. Traded them back in for some lovely platys though. Luckily I've matured and learned a lot since then. (several years ago)


When your guys eat their worms- do they just suck the meat out and leave the skeleton thing? That's what mine did- super fun to watch.

the dp's are really cute little things! i wish i got them instead of the gsp's. the dp's would be fine in my ten gallon, but the gsp's need at least 30 gallons i dont know what to do now. i joined thepufferforum.com and they have been helpful but told me that wm lied to me and they shouldnt be kept in smaller than a 30 gal. but thew dp's are fine in a ten.

mine eat the whole worm. but yours probably sucked the insides out because the worm was relatively too big for them to eat the skeleton

After doing some light searching/research, I'd agree with the people on the forum. I didn't read/realize that you only had a ten gallon.

I think it would be in your best interest (and the puffers) to return them and get something that will be happy in a ten gal. Better that, than deal with the consequences- get something that will thrive, rather than survive.

It's not the end of the world- just a learning experience!

yep, i am going to try to give them to a lf not walmart. if you return a fish to walmart, they flush it id ratherkeep them alive as long as i can, than get my money back and have them killed. but if i can get the lfs to take them, i will

the lfs said they would take them. they also said it wouldnt be a problem for them to order something for me since they are a mom and pop shop. so i will probably have them order dwarf puffers like you had
