You're brave- I'd never get fish at Walmart.
Those puffers are fun though- I had them several years back.
Get some frozen bloodworms- that's their best diet.

well, its kind of like buying noids at walmart. sometimes there is something just so cute, you cant resist. plus, these fish looked extremely healthy for walmart. i got the bloodworms and they love them. they are very cute and they all have their own personalities. |

They do better with some saltwater added to the freshwater to make brackish water.

It's a shame that they don't do well with bettas. Thinking of putting some rummy-nose tetras in with mine....

Rummynose tetras are not aggressive. They're very active fish. When the people at the stores catch them, they get really hyperactive and can literally flip out and die if they don't give them a breather.
Rummynose tetras are not beginner's tetras. Izzie, I don't recommend these yet.
Tetras also like to nip at each other as part of their pecking order "game". They may start "picking" on your betta.
Have you ever thought about introducing some ladies (bettas of course) to the mix? 
Your boy might really appreciate you hooking him up.

If you want a tetra tank, I can recommend some nice little tetras that are really easy to keep.

They're really a passing fancy- as in, I trust my skill to keep them, and my betta to not nip them, but in the end, I have a teeny tank.
Mayyyybe next year I can convince my mom to let me get a bigger (10gal) tank that I can put some schooling fish in. I'd have to make a stand for it- no counter space left.
If I put anything in with Horus, it will be an oto. maybe. but really, only if my algae starts to get out of hand again.
