Default Not AGAIN!!!!!

Yesterday began as a nice, quiet one. The wife and younger residents were out and about, so I had the house to myself. Spent time watering orchids, then sat on the sofa with a glass of limeade to choose between television and a nap. The nap was about to win when the phone rang. It was, of course, Juli. "I'm at PetSmart. I found the cutest little dog, a lab mix. He only has three legs!" Uh oh. Poor little baby was run over by a car. Three of his legs were broken but two healed while the third had to be amputated. He also had broken ribs and a few other injuries.

So I drove to PetSmart. I figured I might have a chance, still. But there was Juli, already with the puppy on a leash and playing. Thinking perhaps I had one last out, I asked the adoption people about the puppy. They said he had some agression issues with other dogs because of how a female pit treated him in a foster home. "Well, go get Sully," Juli said. Sully, you may remember, came to live with me in October as a birthday present to myself, and had his own agression issues for me to work through.

Well, Sully and I walked up to Juli and the puppy when I got back, and the puppy immediately snarled and bared his teeth. Sully looked at him like he wanted to laugh, then lay down on the grass. And then the two were playing and rolling around. And I knew I was defeated. When we got the puppy (he came with the name Daniel) home he and Sully played and played and played, until both were too tired to move any more. And last night he slept on the bed, basically wrapped around my head. Gets around pretty well for a three-legged dog!

Oh, so now we have six dogs. Here's Daniel (isn't he a cute thing!), and also Daniel with Sully:

Daniel is very fortunate to have overcome his injuries and to have found a happy home with you and your brood. He and Sully are both adorable. You did good!

Woow, you are amazing! I'm so happy you gave Daniel a permanent home! A friend has a bunch of Greyhounds (rescues from the racing tracks) and 2 of them are three legged. They are as fast as their 4 legged pack members and deal very well with their handicap.

I wish you and your pack a long and happy time together!

My greyhound died about a year ago. They are absolutely wonderful dogs. I'd adopt another in an instant, and likely will when room is there. And presuming that the local Homeless Pets place doesn't catch me first!
