As the numbers continue to grow......

A student brought this lil guy in to me -- Storeria dekayi . Primary prey are earthworms and slugs.

This is Vinnie. He's a Uropygid -- aka vinegaroon. Native to the tropics, uros eat arthropods and are believed to also be scavengers. Quite harmless, they lack stingers or venom. Their common name derives from their ability to produce droplets of acetic acid (vinegar) compounds to deter predators.

Also have a new B. smithii sling (aka Mexican Red-knee tarantula) -- just a wee thing.

Very cool snake and vinegaroon. Would love to see a vinegaroon firsthand. Do you know where that species of snake is native to?

I don't like snakes but I hate slugs even more. Have lost way to many cattleya buds lately to slugs so the wee snake is welcome in my gh. The other ... as Sue says Not so much!
