Phalaenopsis rot?? - Orchid Board

It must be malady time in my house!
This looks like rot to me. The spots are not wet, although it seems moist between the upper and lower leaf membrane (not paper dry). It has not spread any further, and plant has a clean new growth.

Should I be concerned about spread?
What type of rot(?) is this?
Any recommended treatment?

It seems that the higher the plant value, then the higher the susceptibility to problems that will totally wipe them out! Go figure! Hate to loose this plant: Dtps. Chain Xen Diamond "Celebration" FCC/AOS

Hi Oscarman,

New to the message board so I don't know if you have gotten your 'rot' problem/question answered. I am no authority but I don't think yours is a rot. I have something similar on my phalaenopsis, although different in colour. See the leaf pointing at 10 o'clock.

The Orchid Doctor (http://orchidsanfrancisco.org) told me that it's a burn from having water droplets on the leaf when it was in full sun. You may want to consult with him directly, too. Again, I may be completely wrong.

btw, to show full size images, make sure you paste the url to the photo at its normal size. Seems that you get urls to the small thumbnails.... unless that's what you wanted to do, in which case you're OK

I would agree that yours does look like water-sun burn.

I have been keeping a close eye on the rot on my phalaenopsis. Nothing has really changed with it and I am not a huge chemical use fan, so I'll let it be for now.
