Tiny transluscent greenish bugs all over my Howeara Lava Burst flowers and new shoots

They don't seem to be eating anything, but they sure like to sit on the blooms! Even though the blooms are at the end of their life span and are about to drop.

These bugs also love the newest tips of soft-leaf plants such as stonecrop, baby's tears and leafy orchids.

Are they harmful? What should I use to get rid of them? I sprayed one of the Howeara flower spikes with SucraShield, and all it did was kill the flowers. The bugs were back within a couple of days.

Aphids, and they don't eat plants, they suck the juices out of them. They can be eliminated with a spray of soapy water or rubbing alcohol, or various pesticides.

I have found aphids very difficult to completely get rid of on my orchids. They will go to just about any plant that has tender foliage or flowers. I would think I had gotten rid of them having not seen a single aphid for weeks. Then an orchid would put out a new leaf or start a spike and within 24 hours that new growth would be covered in aphids. I don't know if they fly but they do seem to jump. About 18 months ago almost all of my orchids were infested along with a few house plants, despite Having tried every solution I knew of or had read. It was so bad I was ready to chuck all of the infested plants if I couldn't figure a way to get rid of the aphids. I didn't feel I had anything to loose.
So this is what I did all in the same day with my 25 or so plants:
I washed each plant with soapy water and removed every aphid I could see. I unpotted, removed the old medium and washed the roots gently with soapy water. I then sprayed the roots and plant with "SaferShield" insecticide and repotted with new medium in clean sterilized pots. All my other house plants that seemed to be unaffected were also sprayed with "SaferShield" and keep isolated from my orchids.
That was in September of 2013. To date I have not seen another aphid or any other critter on my orchids! Any houseplants that summer outside are rigorously inspected, treated and isolated for 2months when they are brought in for the winter.
Don't delay, treat throughly and keep rechecking. They seem to have a way of coming back.

For buds and blooms, I use a stream of water to remove them, or spray with rubbing alcohol, other parts of the plant can be sprayed with alcohol as well, or soapy water, or a combination of both. (Soap can harm some buds and blooms)

Alcohol will dry out the flowers but you have to get rid of these as they multiply very quickly. Like White Rabbit, I usually use soap and water to remove them. If I still see them, I use a systemic.

I use a systemic insecticide. Currently, Bayer protect and feed. Instructions are for larger plants, so some math is needed to correct the dosage. It goes into the watering solution and the plant absorbs it through the roots
