Default MITES!!!!

Why did this happen to me! Why me!!!
I look in my viv, and I go look at my Angraecum dideri, and look what I find!!!

What do I do? How do I get rid of them?? Marty, do you think if I put the orchid into a CO2 chamber it will take care of the problem?
Upon closer inspection of the plant, the orchid itself seems to be miteless. The mites seem to be living and enjoying life on the wood itself and the sphagnum moss that wraps the orchid onto the wood.

Looks like you're in a lab, dry ice will be easy for you to get. I'm just going through a snail problem. Did one treatment overnight, not a snail in sight. You'll kill'em no problems. Be sure to have the CO2 spill out, then few hrs later top up the CO2 as some will be dissolved in water...put a lid on it and let it sit...I would wait a week and repeat in case any eggs hatched

Do you think these are just attacking the wood? Or am I dreaming?

Thanks Marty.

I love bugs - especially pan fried, but those little buggers are creepy looking. Wouldn't want them crawling around in my bed!

CO2 seems like the best solution to me, without the frogs of course.

I can't find a source of CO2. Both the bio and chem departments where I work don't currently have any. Apparently they just dump the stuff in the sinks when they get it.

Try an ice making company. We have one that is called Arctic Glacier. They produce bags of ice sold in grocery stores, etc. They also sell dry ice, ice blocks for carving and the like.

They are in Canada and USA. See if they are near you.

Brooklyn is kinda far for me. I found a few other places a little bit closer, but they are in ugly industrial areas with Zero parking.

I wish I could find a grocery store that had some. Who would have thought it so hard to find some stinking dry ice.
