That is the sound of my happy record halting because after bragging about how great my orchids were doing in my last post (I knew better than to be positive ), I realized my little bella seems to have a brown petal.
It was there when it hadn't opened yet, but I thought it was part of the orchid's coloring. Now I'm not so sure.
As she opens, I'm noticing that one petal is a lot bigger than the other one and the smaller petal is brown on the end. Is this "coloring" of the petal or am I hurting it somehow.
This looks the first bloom, and they don't always turn as the way we want them too. Perhaps the the next will be in better shape.
Any of my paphs in bloom or not will all get good air circulation, no misting.
Orchids that are in bloom tend to apreciate more water during this time.
Blossoms that turn brown or darker in color may just meen, that flower is done.

Oh dear... yes, it could have been water. I didn't realize I wasn't supposed to get any on the bud itself. Lesson learned for next time!
Yes, this is the first bloom, so perhaps it will grow a new one again some day that will not have a blemish. This one sits right under the ceiling fan, so it's getting good circulation. I'll give it a little more water. Thank you!!
Looks like water damage occurred as bud was developing. When watering, take care not to wet buds, flowers, crowns.
In paphs, inflorescence arises from middle of plant (crown) ... when water gets into and stays in crown, it can distort, damage, kill developing inflorescence.
In phals, when water stays in crown, you get crown rot and kill the plant.
